Worried you might forget to return your items back to Patchogue-Medford Library on time?
You can sign up for text message alerts that can ping you straight to your phone, along with a link to use for renewing your items in case you need more time.
To get these, first click the “My Account” link at the top of Patchogue-Medford Library’s homepage. You will then be prompted to login to your account using your library card’s barcode number or, if you have it set up, your username along with a password. In case this is your first time logging into Patchogue-Medford Library’s website, you just need to enter your library card’s barcode into the top box, enter the password you would like into the second box, click “Go” or press enter and then re-enter your new password to verify it.

After logging in, you will be on a page showing your library account information, including any titles you currently have out along with their due dates, any applicable fines owed as well as links to your reading history among other features. Click on the “Change Your Contact Information Link” in order to set your mobile phone number.
On the page that pops up, follow the prompts to enter in your mobile phone number, which must include your area code and be entered with dashes. Then click on the “YOU MUST CLICK HERE TO OPT IN” link as well as “Submit” to save the information to your account. Shortly thereafter, your phone should receive its first text from Patchogue-Medford Library.

After receiving your first text, it will ask for you to reply back with “YES” in order to confirm the alerts. After doing so, you will be all set to receive alerts whenever you have items with approaching due dates. If at any time you want these reminders to stop, you can reply back “STOP” to the number.

The alerts will let you know whenever there is an item that is due soon as well as whenever a requested item is ready for pick up. However, the alert will not specify exactly what the item pertains to. Instead it will include a link to Patchogue-Medford Library’s “My Account” page, where you can login to see the status of your items.
Please note that these texts will make use of whichever plan you have set up with your carrier for text messages, so please keep that in mind in case you have a limited number of texts. Also note that if your phone is not connected to Wi-Fi, clicking the “My Account” link might use your data plan.
