What is the history of your family? Two programs taking place Saturday at Patchogue-Medford Library can help you discover your past, while also get you ready to tell your family’s future stories.
The “Discovering Your Early American Ancestry” program will feature presenter Gretchen L. Mills Maresco, the New York State Lineage Research Chairman of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The event is taking place at 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Those interested in attending should register either online by clicking here or by calling the library at 631-654-4700.
Following this event, there will be drop-in demonstrations of the StoryCorps program, which is a website and mobile app that has tips on how to interview friends and family in order to build and preserve your stories happening right now. Librarian Martha Mikkleson will be giving one-on-ones or small group instruction on how to install the StoryCorps app onto sample devices such as iPads, Android tablets and laptops. These demonstrations will take place in the lower level lobby of the library from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
