The Board of Trustees of the Patchogue Medford Library will not hold the budget vote and trustee election previously scheduled for April 7 due to COVID-19.
The Library board voted unanimously at a special meeting held virtually on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 to cancel its budget vote and keep the 2020-21 operating budget at the same level as the 2019-2020 budget. The Library Board, recognizing the extreme economic distress that the current situation will have on our community, made the difficult decision to run the Library for the next year without a tax increase. In addition, the Library has postponed the Trustee election to June 9 and will hold an election for that trustee seat as long as we are able to do so safely.
.
In the meantime, the Library staff have pivoted to a totally online environment and are working tirelessly to develop and implement Library services in new ways while our doors must remain closed. We are here and available for our local residents in need of the kinds of information and support that they have always turned to the library for.
Please continue to visit the Library’s website at www.pmlib.org and our Facebook and Instagram pages for updated information.
