Being a librarian you come to expect a few things from your friends and colleagues: someone posting a picture of a cake that looks like a library on your Facebook timeline or tagging you into it, your friends assuming you just shelve books, or have an abundance of time to read them and help with book suggestions. While the first one makes me cringe every time I see it, the second one makes me want to show people my certifications; the third makes me giggle, but the last one I can help with.
The library has many resources for all of your reading needs and pleasures. Aside from checking our catalog and doing a search for a book title or author, there are great resources that can match you with a book.
NoveList Plus is a great tool to use when searching for read-alikes.
Goodreads is an excellent resource with reviews by actual readers like you and me. You can keep track of what you read and what you’d like to read. They also have an app for your phone or device.
Reddit has subreddits with book suggestions and threads where you can suggest books according to genre or theme.

These are all great sources but just remember your trusty neighborhood librarian can always help if you are stumped, but please stop it with the library cake!
