    ARCHIVED 2019:
"Artful Antics" Comes to Patchogue-Medford Library

THIS EXHIBIT WAS ON VIEW AT THE PATCHOGUE-MEDFORD LIBRARY IN MAY – JUNE 2019

Now on view in the Claire Davidson Siegel Gallery is Shhh! This is a Library, a two-person exhibition featuring the artwork of Lisa Petker-Mintz and Mac Titmus. The exhibition is curated by John Cino of Patchogue Art Council and is part of their annual summer festival, Artful Antics.

    About The Artwork

Cino states that the artists were chosen for their “synergistic effect. Each artist creates playfully, exuberant works [… which pushes] their materials into densely layered imagery.” The works on display are colorfully vibrant and expressive – projecting an imaginative quality that transports the viewer to a world of fantasy.

Lisa Petker-Mintz, Flamingo, Monkey and Stairs, 2016

One work on display, Lisa Petker-Mintz’s Flamingo, Monkey and Stairs is a visual display of magical lyricism that focuses on the formal elements of creation, which highlights the piece’s materiality. Flamingos, flying birds, and a monkey are boldly outlined against a colorful background of pastel greens, blues, purples, and pinks. In her mixed media works, Lisa strives to create images that are engaging, as she hopes that the viewer discovers something new with each returning visit.

    Mac Titmus, Carousel Dreams, 2018

Mac Titmus’s “digital paintings” bridge the gap between fantasy and reality as he adds visual effects that dramatically alter the moods and emotions of each piece. One work on display, Carousel Dreams, contains a dizzying assembly of carousel horses and a variety of clowns that fluctuate between whimsy and horror. The viewer is instantly drawn to the dazzling arrangement of colors before interpreting the jumbling subject matter.
