Albert Pellegrini

My name is Albert Pellegrini and I am running for a position on the Patchogue-Medford Library Board. My desire is to continue and encourage programs that will enrich all members of the Patchogue-Medford Community.

I have been a Patchogue resident for 54 years. I have been married for 57 years and have five children, 18 grandchildren and 3 (going on 4 in September) great-grandchildren.

I am a retired Science Teacher. I worked for 35 years in the Patchogue-Medford School District and I still do substitute work and home teaching for the district. I was x-country, girls softball and bowling club coach. I also developed summer programs for the district, which included Science Exploration and L.l. Waters.

I initiated a Student Mentorship Program through Brookhaven National Labs, (Dr.Metz) which involved students working alongside Scientists.
I graduated Long Island University with a BS Cum Laude and Dowling with a Masters plus 60 in Science.

I feel I have experience to offer the community.

Eleanor Ryder

Albert Einstein once said, “The only thing that you absolutely have to know is the location of the library.”

I strongly agree with this statement, and have served as an enthusiastic Library Trustee since 2003. I’ve lived in Patchogue for more than 50 years, and, fortunately for me, spent a good portion of my professional career teaching at Medford Elementary School, Patchogue, NY (1968-2004). I also taught at Our Lady of Peace School, Lynbrook, NY and Ellenville Elementary School, Ellenville, NY.

Born in Auckland, New Zealand, I was named after Eleanor Roosevelt, and, like my namesake, I’ve tried to dedicate my life to helping others.

It is an honor to serve on the Board of the Patchogue-Medford Library because of its commitment to the residents of our community. The staff is anxious to work with the patrons on exciting children’s programs, giving advice to seniors, and teaching all types of technology. Students of all ages can receive help with school work, children can read to a dog, and everyone can enjoy fine music and art presentations. I have tried to play a small part in the growth of this outstanding library, and our newest addition in Medford, which is very exciting! I would much appreciate your continued support.

Amanda Sanford

My name is Amanda Sanford, and I am so excited to introduce myself and my candidacy to the Patchogue-Medford community!

As a life-long resident of Patchogue, I have truly enjoyed growing up within this community; I attended Patchogue-Medford public schools, and then went on to complete my undergraduate degree at the St. Joseph’s University’s Patchogue campus. Since graduating with my Bachelor’s in Psychology, I have worked within SJNY’s Tutoring and Academic Development Office, helping students to realize their academic potential and achieve their goals in college.

I am currently working on my Master’s in Social Work at Stony Brook University, and as a part of my social work education, I have had the privilege of interning within the Patchogue-Medford Library. Library social workers play a vital role in working with the community to access services and to help people with any issue they may be experiencing. My time at the library has allowed me to serve our community, and to understand the crucial role that the library has in Patchogue-Medford.

Our library is truly the hub of our community; so many people come through the library’s doors and the library is able to provide programming, resources, books and knowledge, and information to everyone. As our library continues to grow and expand, it would be my privilege to serve on the board. As a new social worker and a member of this community, I am excited to use my skills and passion to be part of the library’s mission and service.
