Adult Opportunities

Patchogue-Medford Friends of the Library

Adults interested in helping the library should contact the Patchogue-Medford Friends of the Library.
They are not currently accepting new volunteers, but are still accepting donations.

Teen Opportunities for Grades 6-12

Bookmarks for Service

Come to the Carnegie any time and earn up to two hours of community service (limit once per week) by coloring and decorating bookmarks for the Children’s Department! 

Teen Book Review

Teens can submit up to three book reviews a month, each review is worth 3 hours of community service. Book reviews are used on the Teen Instagram to promote books to other teens. 

Food Donations

Bring in three non-perishable food items to the Carnegie Library and receive one hour of community service (limit one hour per week). All food items will be used to stock our food shelf at the Main Building where patrons can take what they need.  

Care Package Donations

Pack a ziploc bag with five personal care items to receive two hours of community service a month. Bags can be dropped off at the Carnegie Library. These bags will go on our food shelf in the Main Building where patrons can take what they need. Examples of personal care items you can put in your bags are: toothpaste, toothbrushes, bars of soap, mouthwash, deodorant, first aid items, and feminine care items. 

Letters for Rose

Come to the Carnegie any time and earn up to two hours of community service credit (limit once per week) by creating cards, letters or art to send to seniors in local nursing homes.

Perler Bead Sorting

Come to the Carnegie any time and earn up to two hours of community service credit (limit once per week) by helping us tidy up our Perler Bead collection.
