General Election FAQ

Below is a brief set of nonpartisan resources to prepare you for the current election season!

I am a voter in Suffolk County. What are my options for voting in the 2023 General Election?

  • On Election Day, November 7, 2023, at your designated polling place. Registered voters can find their polling location and hours using the New York State Poll Site Search tool:
  • During the Early Voting period for the 2023 General Election (October 28th – November 5th). For a list of Early Voting locations and hours, visit the Suffolk County Board of Elections website:
  • By Absentee Ballot, which can be requested online, by mail, in person, or by fax. There are important and varied deadlines to be aware of for registered voters who are considering requesting an absentee ballot/voting absentee. For details, visit the “Absentee Voting FAQ” section of the Suffolk County Board of Elections website:

Note: Effective January, 2022, New York State voters are no longer permitted to cast a ballot on a voting machine if they have already been issued an absentee ballot for that election. Voters who have already been issued an absentee ballot can still vote in person using an affidavit ballot. [source]
